| Comments : | I bought it from a Mrs Flowerday in Wingerworth, Chesterfield who told me it was supplied new by VW agents, Scotts of Sloane Square after having been the display car for VW at the Earl's Court motor show. I had it resprayed during my ownership by VW agents in Chesterfield, Gordon Lamb ltd. Fitted with Kamei front spoiler and rear deck lid shield, engine rebuilt after 100k miles with Engle cam and Reece fish carb etc. Sold it in the mid 1980s when living in High Wycombe and heard it was damaged in a road accident involving a fatality. | Comments : | Previously For Sale on EBay This late 1973 (left the factory on 13th November 1973 and was shipped to Ramsgate) The 1303S special addition Beetle is finished in eye catching Hellas Metallic gold with a number of period options. The history folder indicates that the Bug went into storage in 1986, did not emerge until 2012 and sailed through her MOT in 2014. During the two year restoration the owner completed a full body and mechanical restoration, mainly around the wheel arches and with the whole floorpan stripped back and restored. Most panels replaced are rare parts sourced including original KTS wheels and KAMEI front spoiler. The car was originally Ontario Blue 95M, but received a respray in Hellas Gold 98C. On the road the car drives extremely well - the 1600cc engine, later brakes and alternator really does make this a Beetle capable of dealing with modern road conditions. The later styling with larger wraparound windows, elephant foot rear lamps, cloth/vinyl seats, and larger speedo work well with the metallic paint and the car draws attention wherever you park The interior is to the original specification - the larger glass area makes for a bright environment and seats, dashboard, roof lining, carpets etc. are all in very good condition. The history folder has the MOT history since restoration, pictures of the car when she was sold from storage, CD with lots of images, VW heritage certificate etc. Known as 'Nugget' and was purchased by Lee on 20th Aug 2020. | Comments : | It is with a heavy heart that i am having to sell my 1303s. It have MOT till July and tax till june, it is the big beetle edition, it is in original condition with some surface rust to the body but the underside looks to be in very good condition partly because of the low mileage but also because it has been undersealed most of its life. 3 previous owners, all from the same family. Bought new, sold to neice in 1979 who owned till 2006, bought by daughter in 2006 with intentions to restore for her son to learn to drive. I bought it in Oct 2008 with intentions to restore this summer. Having just found out the wife is pregnant, priorities change and i need a sensible car. I have put 4,000 miles on it, starts first time, every time in the rain or snow. Have had no mechanical problems, body work seems very stiff and should last quite a long time untouched but is prime for a restore. The heaters work and warm the car up really well. | Comments : | VW Super Beetle was renovated a few years prior to my purchase in 2004, including a new engine. The car had new tyres in 2004 and they still retain 70% of the tread. The car was originally metallic blue but had been repainted white. The car starts, drives, and sounds superb. The brakes (front) are binding slightly and the body work is good. The car has mainly been used as part of an activities programme to stimulate EMI residents. I think very liitle work would be needed for the MOT (Brakes being the main item). The car fires first time and drives generally well. I like to think that i have finally got beetle mania out of my system. I would like to say there isn't a reserve price but I am expecting around Ł500 for the car. The car also benefits of very low classic car insurance Ł125.00 comp per year based on 2000 miles per year. I had all the MOTs from 1992. At present I have 1994, 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2003. I also have the original sale invoice and warranty from beetlemania to the previous owner. Majority of the maintenance had been done by beetlemania of London until 2003. Carburetor (Solex) was replaced on 19/05/2002 including some of the steel piping. | Comments : | HISTORY We have records of this car (service receipts and equipment fitted) going back to 1988. My daughter purchased her in 1993. As it turned out she was a bad buy. From lack of Beetle experience and naivity we didn’t look closely enough at the important places. After struggling with her for a year it became obvious that she was going to be a constant struggle to keep safely on the road and in the long run she was heading for the knacker’s yard. We chose the alternative and took her off the road for three years during which we spent several thousand pounds and many hundreds of hours on her to bring her up to a good looking, safe and reliable vehicle. My daughter then drove her regularly until 2004. Since then she has been on the road only intermittently as my daughter trained to be a driving instructor and needed a more modern car. Alice has been mostly kept in my garage during this last four years and as I really would like my garage back and we would like someone else to enjoy Alice we have decided to sell her. CONDITION You can see Alice’s current top condition from the first four photographs. She was re-sprayed after our renovation 10 years ago; this top coat is getting a bit tired now and is showing some blistering in places, a few thinness spots and the usual chips. Some corrosion has appeared along the edge seams, at the bottom corners of the doors and at a few other spots; all of this has been treated and over-painted. This said you can see that she still polishes up very well and continues to look generally good. In the longer term a re-spray would, with little preparation, easily bring her back to tip-top condition. What is very special about Alice though is what lies beneath the surface. In the renovation she was stripped out thoroughly, de-rusted, repaired and then given a protective Hammerite coating inside and out. She was partly rewired and her engine stripped down and rebuilt. All areas like suspension, steering and brakes were dismantled and rebuilt with new components where necessary. All seals, window rubbers, door rubbers and gaskets were replaced. The interior was re-carpeted and the original seating was good enough to be kept with minor repairs. Photos five to ten show examples of some of this and the interior [No 7 is from the renovation period]. Nov 2020 - EBay sale: Currently for sale on EBay Bought this beetle 3 months ago now as i've always wanted a 1303s model with the 1600 engine and matching gearbox just to see what it was like compared to my 1300 beetle.... "Rex" the 1303S is certainly a big difference , plenty of power throughout the driving range. Drove Rex home 100 miles no problem at all up the M6 motorway back to Scotland from the Lancaster area - sat at 65 to 70mph all the way. Another few trips locally on various days and overall mileage covered recently is close to 500miles Limited edition Big Beetle model and don't see too many pop up for sale especially in Blue. Still has the original blue carpets and seats albeit they are 46 years old now. Also has the correct padded steering wheel and wooden gearknob and wide 5.5J GT wheels as per special model specs. Overall this is still a great car but he does now need some tlc in various places - he's now MOT exempt and can jump in and drive away right now and i still pop out to the shops or for parts in him the odd day but please bear in mind as good as the photos look he is now showing various signs of ageing in the paintwork with various large bubbles appearing in quite a lot of places so do not expect a show winning car. GOOD PONTS: New battery, new front calipers and discs, 4 new tyres just over 12 months ago with receipts Engine serviced / oil changed 6 months ago and i've recently changed the oil again. Fibreglass wings all round in great condition Heater connected and very good Original heavy duty bumpers both still in great condition and rear bumper has over riders fitted 1600 engine has been replaced at some point and has no end float - runs great New wiper blades, electric washers fully working BAD POINTS: Slight clutch slip when driven really hard - it's reasonably ok when easy on the acc pedal. It did this when i test drove the car and then somehow disappeared but the issue seems to have come back slightly. Usual minor oil leak from flywheel area so i guess clutch plate may be getting a drop on it Heater channel bottom plate needs repaired on driver's side - couple of holes present Various big bubbles in the paint on the gutters and in many other locations Slightly scruffy underneath in places with old underseal and paint flaking off - could benefit from a thorough wire brush and undersealed - various repairs to framehead have been carried out in the past Repair plate required next to front brake pipe mount on passenger side |

All the interior was restored (new carpets/upholstery) and still retains all of the original features and charm. | Comments : | Currently For Sale on EBAY http://www.aircooledunlimited.co.uk History Our ‘Big Beetle’ was produced on 14th November 1973. And was then sold by Bridge Motor Works (Leicester) Ltd. Abbey Lane, Leicester (the main VW Dealers in Leics. at that time) to Mr Roger Whiteman on February 8th 1974. After almost 2 years Roger (who was emigrating) sold the car to his father. Mr Tom Whiteman kept the car until 6th April 1977, when he part-exchanged it for a VW Golf at Johnson’s Garages (Hinckley) Ltd. In June 1977 Mrs. Kathleen Derbyshire, of Groby, Leics. purchased it. She had the car for just over 6 years, when she passed away her husband, Mr. John Derbyshire, then owned the car for a further 5 years, when he too passed away. The car then went to his nephew, Mr. Leslie Cooper, of South Wigston, Leics. He kept the car until December 1992, when he sold it to Paul Mann as a spares or repair, MOT failure. Paul was unfortunately made redundant and could not afford to fix the car; he then sold it to us on 6th July 1993. At some time the car has been fitted with a sun-roof. We restored the car & in 1995 had it re-sprayed in the original colour. It has been used as a daily driver since 1998 & is not garaged. We are no longer using the original engine but still has 1600 TP. We are now at the point where another re-spray needs doing! | Comments : | The car is in excellent condition. I have had it for over 4 years and has been an incredibly reliable car. Before me drastic work was carried out on it, stripped down to the chasis and pretty much re built. Since I have had it, it has only needed routine maintenance for MOTs and a paint job. With the car I can provide an extensive history of the car, including photos of its re build, reciepts of what has been done to the car over the years, registration documents, service history (MOT expires sept 09) and insurance details. The car otherwise known as 'scotty' is in excellent condition for a its age. It was bought for me to learn to drive in, planned to be kept for about a year, it has exceeded our expectations and I have now had it for 4 years and a few months. It is my first car and I would love to pass it onto someone like myself or someone who can maintain its current condition and keep him running regularly.
